HEY! I’M SHAWN.

My friends call me Shawnsy. Gifs are my love language and I’m on a never ending quest to find the world’s best tacos.

I value experience above everything else. I strive to think outside of the box to make your session an experience. Want to go zip lining, an indoor trampoline park, Citizen’s Bank Park (or any Philadelphia stadium really), get covered in paint, sneak into the back of a brewery where they make all the delicious beer for your portrait or branding session? LET’S DO IT! The stories and life experiences I gain from meeting awesome new people just like you is my lifeblood. I love the feel of the camera in my hands when shooting, knowing I’m creating photos and an experience that you will remember forever.

I listen to Taylor Swift more than I should probably admit. She helps me edit faster ensuring I give you the fastest turnaround possible! I know the excitement and anticipation you feel to see your photos! And when my clients take time to stop and tell me how much they love their photos and videos, a sense of pride and accomplishment comes rushing over me like when I burnt my first mix CD off Napster (or Limewire).

I love the freedom my camera has provided me. Although it’s not a magical far away continent, I love taking day-cations to Philadelphia or New York with my wonderful wife or taking the afternoon off to go play at the park with our two dogs - Mozart and Coco (both Havapoos).

My Story

I have been interested in photography going as far back as my sophomore year of high school when we were tasked with making a pinhole camera out of a coffee can and developing the film ourselves in the school dark room. In 2014, I graduated from Rutgers University with a healthy photojournalistic portfolio and a certificate for Documentary filmmaking.

In terms of photography, I've always admired the unconventional. Photographers like Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Steve McCurry and David LaChapelle drew me in because they did something just a little odd and different. They're also amazing storytellers in their own unique ways. The storytelling aspect of photography is actually what lead me into photography. I’m a sucker for a great story.

So, if you have an epic adventure you'd like me to document, open that Contact page, and send me a message.
Let's grab a pumpkin spice latte and get to know one another.

A wedding in Central America! Can you BELIZE it?

My Style

I'd call it documentary, with just a little bit of quirk.

I believe that photography is just as much about the experience as it is about the images and videos themselves. If you don't enjoy yourself on a shoot or on your wedding day, you won't look back and feel that happy fluttering in your stomach. It will almost feel fake. That's not what I want and that's not what you want, so my goal is to make sure that when you're looking at your media 10 years from now, you're thinking, "that was such an amazing day."
